The ‘Burb

surburb

I’ve been sitting on the stoop for the best part of an hour, watching the mailbox at the end of my drive. The morning is a nice one – warm and breezy – and I relish it as I sit in my shorts and t-shirt, waiting. The mailman should have been by now but I’m so enraptured by the bask that I don’t mind so much. I’m half watching the street, it’s unrelenting bustle playing out as men and women leave for work in different states of rush, and half absently mashing on my gameboy, slowly eroding the letters from the face buttons, grinding up the level of my party on some RPG I thought I’d lost months ago. The mail I’m waiting on is important, but all things considered, I can wait. The day is nice. It’s… pleasant.
